1:) Change the container orchids without noticing which side their new buds are coming from. For good development, it is essential that the shoots stay free, away from the wall.
2:) Do not opt for clay pots. It is common for people to try to grow orchids in plastic pots. The problem is that they are less porous and not as efficient at draining water, causing root rot. Therefore, always opt for clay pots.
3:) Allow them to cross the surface of the vessels. The best thing to do is always keep them two to three fingers inside the surface of the vessels.
4:) Do not sterilize the scissors when pruning them. Before pruning, try to sterilize the equipment using a portable torch or even the flame of the stove. Remember to wait for the scissors to cool completely before using it and also to always re-sterilize when moving from one plant to another to prevent disease transmission.
5:) Avoid scarring after pruning. In this case, we recommend that you make use of cinnamon powder, which is a great natural healer and will suit you very well.
6:) Neglect patches that appear on the foliage. Often, some stains appear on the foliage and we end up ignoring them as normal. But, they may be indicating the attack of some plague. The tip we can give is to use neutral detergent diluted in water. Wash all leaves and roots and spray some water with detergent on the leaves. If the pest infestation is large, you can use pure detergent undiluted in water. After this process, let the orchid rest in the shade for 24 hours, wash again and replant.
7:) Do not observe the color of the foliage. It is always important to observe the coloration of the foliage as they say a lot. If they are too dark, it may be indicating a lack of light. And if they are half yellow, it can be too much light. In such cases, it is recommended that you move the orchid, always seeking balance.
